Problem Statement
The customer has two platforms (Legacy & Modern) to serve its customers and a new platform built on cloud-native, automation first, and the latest technologies to offer robust, scalable, and service-oriented architecture working off of multi-node distributed databases. As part of the consolidation strategy of technology platforms, Kanerika team was tasked to architect and implement the application migration projects across cloud providers for seamless customer experience, data migration, and sunsetting of old platforms.
Key Challenges
- This legacy software, built using Oracle technology and deployed on Oracle Cloud (OCI) and PLSQL as its base, was not scalable and continued to require personnel support to maintain it until all its users migrated to the new system.
- Built over many years of the business, data structures are complex, high-volume business rules and context-specific implementations.
- Scope included 13 months of active rollover data, growing weekly, and the challenge of business continuity during the migration process. (data gets processed in the old platform and business processes are complete in the new platform).
- Migration includes data/users/features to the latest platform which utilizes scalable and go-forward technologies and the data store of Microsoft Cosmos Database deployed on Azure cloud.

Solution
Kanerika’s team successfully migrated the legacy application to a new cloud store leveraging an in-built framework model to ensure all functionalities were preserved and data integrity was maintained. The team was able to achieve data consistency throughout the migration process, delivering a smooth transition with strong exception and failure management.
Post-migration, a reconciliation process was utilized to ensure the data consistency, integrity, and contextual business rules validation automatically before signing off the migration project that included more than 280 GB of total data volume going across the cloud.
With the new Migration Framework built for this project, now Kanerika is equipped to handle migration as a service project for application migration.
